1. Understanding the difference between diesel engines, steam turbines, gas turbines, steam boilers, electric propultors.
2. knowledge and practice about Gears (steering propellers, azipoda drives, and cycloid drives), steering systems
3. knowledge and practice loading and unloading equipment, deck cranes, mooring cranes , windlasses, hatch covers and airtight doors, cooling systems, storage rooms, HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, support systems, toilet systems, air supply and dosage systems 
4. knowledge and practice support operations on general cargo ships, Reefer containers, tankers, LNG carriers and Chemical carriers
